Dog Day Summer

The sun shows its face for the first time in what feels like a lengthy vacation. We welcome it with open arms as it tickles our pale skin. The river looks inviting as it rushes to the ocean, begging for us to perform our finest cannon balls and swan dives.
A gentle breeze blows in from the East as we make our way to the corner store. We raid the freezer for popsicles and ice-cream sandwiches and devour them before the heat can launch its attack on the frozen treats.
We retreat to the tire swing out back. The Rubber burns my leg and sticks to my calves as we swing face first into the breeze.
Bermuda shorts and flip flops, we are living out an Old Navy commercial.
